Alison Doody

Alison Doody is an Irish actress and model. She was born on 11th November 1966. After making her feature film debut with a small part in Bond film A View to a Kill (1985) she was later cast to portray the an archaeologist who is sympathetic to Nazis, Elsa Schneider, in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). The other roles she played include Siobhan Donavan in A Prayer for the Dying (1987) Charlotte in Taffin (1988) and Rebecca Flannery in Major League II (1994). Doody was a model when she was approached. The outcome proved to be a lucrative career. Doody avoided nude and glamour work. This was a principle she carried over to her acting. If she came to the director's notice for the role in a James Bond film, Doody accepted a minor role on the film A View to a Kill (1985). Doody was selected as one of the twelve most promising young actors in the year 1986 in John Willis Screen World. 38. Doody was still only 18 years old at the time of her first appearance in the Bond role. Today she's the newest Bond girl. A Prayer for the Dying (1997), starring Mickey Rourke, also featured a smaller role as IRA Siobhan. Doody played a non-speaking part in the 1987 adaptation of The Secret Garden appearing as Archibald Craven's wife Lilias in a dream. In a Jim Henson fantasy episode The Storyteller in 1988, Doody portrayed Sapsorrow alongside John Hurt Dawn French Jennifer Saunders. In 1988, she appeared with Pierce Brosnan on the movie Taffin. Her most recognizable part to date was that of Austrian Nazi sympathizer and archaeologist Doctor Elsa Schneider opposite Harrison Ford in 1989's Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Doody has worked with three James Bond actors. Doody has co-starred alongside Jonathan Pryce, in the British mini-series Selling Hitler. The series was in part inspired by The Hitler Diaries publishing scam. Following her move to Hollywood Doody made her a star. The actress later became Flannery her agent and her girlfriend for Major League II. She was selected as the replacement for Cybill Shepherd, who was once L'Oreal's spokeswoman. Doody who was absent from the stage for nearly 10 years, returned in 2003 to take on a tiny role on The Actors, a British comedy The Actors in which Michael Caine appeared as her as a character at an awards ceremony. The year 2004, she starred in a scene with Patrick Swayze alongside a TV version of King Solomon's Mines. Also Doody appeared in Benjamin's Struggle (2005), an essay on the Holocaust. Doody was cast in Danny Dyer's The Rapture (2009). The Clinic, a medical drama, aired on RTE. The Asphyx was the 2011 version of her film. Pam Jefferson, the character she played in E4's comedy Beaver Falls during its first season, which ran for two seasons. She was a part of We Still Kill the Old Way which was a film from 2014. In November of 2018 she received the Almeria tierra de Cine Award as well as a star on Almeria's Walk of Fame.
